Dr. James McHale, MD

My name is Dr. James McHale, and I am a physician at Lassen Indian Health Center. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Biology from California State University Channel Islands and my Doctor of Medicine degree from St. George's University School of Medicine. My medical training and clinical experience have included family medicine, internal medicine, emergency medicine, pediatrics, women's health, and hospital-based care. I am currently certified in ACLS, PALS, and NRP.

My path to medicine was a little different from the traditional route. I returned to college as an adult and ultimately pursued my lifelong goal of becoming a physician. That journey reinforced my appreciation for lifelong learning, perseverance, and the importance of treating every patient as an individual. I enjoy getting to know patients, understanding their concerns, and working together to develop practical plans that improve their health and quality of life.

I have a broad interest in family medicine and comprehensive primary care, particularly the opportunity to help patients manage chronic conditions, address preventive health needs, and navigate the healthcare system. I value the relationships that develop when patients and their physicians work together over time.

Outside of medicine, I enjoy playing guitar, spending time outdoors, and exploring Northern California's natural beauty. I'm looking forward to getting to know the Susanville area and enjoying more outdoor opportunities.

Emlyn Ngiratmab, Front Office Supervisor

I am the new Front Office Supervisor with a professional background as an Athletic Trainer Provider, bringing a unique blend of direct patient care experience, healthcare operations expertise, and team coordination skills. My clinical experience allows me to approach front-office leadership with a strong understanding of patient flow, staff support, and the overall care experience. I am committed to supporting my department team through strong communication, collaboration, and steady leadership while helping strengthen daily operations.

Emily Herndon, LVN

I am a Nurse, wife, and mother of 4, and a lifetime Lassen County local. I thrive in the chaos of family life and in healthcare, having worked in healthcare for almost 10 years. I am passionate about helping others and making positive changes to help better serve our patients and the community. Outside of work, you'll usually find me camping, sitting down with a good book, taking the RZR out on the mountain, taking care of all our farm animals, and spending time with my wild kids. I bring resilience, energy, and humor to everything I do.
